Why that’s del.icio.us

without comments

I started playing around with del.icio.us when it first came out. The service has improved a lot since it’s early days and it certainly has become more popular. That being said, I can’t say that I am one of the services most frequent fliers. I find the service interesting and it’s fun to play with but I can’t say I have used it to it’s full potential yet.

Curious about improvements, and the potential for more from the del.icio.us team, I started reading their blog. It is obvious from even a little bit of reading that the team has a lot of ideas on the table.

I am still looking for a reason to use del.icio.us on a daily basis, and not as just another feature to crowd onto my blog. Perhaps with a little time and tinkering I will find the spark of what I am looking for that will turn this interesting little experience into a tool I cannot live without.

At the risk of adding more tools to what very well may be your already overflowing tool box, I offer up this link for finding more: The Absolutely Del.icio.us Tools Collection.

Starbucks Gossip

without comments

Stuck in the house this weekend without a vehicle and only Folgers Coffee to drink, I am desperate.

Our vehicle is on the fritz and it's hot.

I really want a Carmel Frapachino from Starbucks to cool my body off and cool my caffeine deprived and aching head off RIGHT NOW.

Instead, I am reduced to reading about coffee online and stumbled across the Starbucks Gossip blog.

Pathetic isn't it?

[My life, not their blog]

Sniffing Superglu

without comments

No, not that kind of glue, you ninny! I am talking about checking out the web 2.0 project suprglu.com.  Although clearly in the early stages of growing pains, this effort put together by a small team, has potential.

Basically what the project allows the visitor to do is build a custom portal page together around adding a series of feeds from other sites, and glue them all together in the emerging Web 2.0 fashion.

How to Get Naked

without comments

I have to admit it was the title of the discussion that first grabbed my attention. "How to Get Naked" a presentation from BlogHer 2005 shares some interesting insights into the world of personal blogging.

Panelists include bloggers Jory des Jardins (Pause) and Heather B. Armstrong (dooce), Ronni Bennett (Time Goes By) and Koan Bremner (blog Multidimensional Me and podcasts "VoiceOver" and "CrossOver") ; authors of often very personal "identity blogs"

A Podcast of the event can be found on IT Conversations.

Digging Out

without comments

Philadelphia Inquirer reporter Jane M. Von Bergen in her blog gives shovel after shovel full of advice, encouragement and a spade full of sympathy to those in need of "Digging Out." Bergen brings hope to other fellow disorderedly types (of which I am, most definately one) who wish to bring about organization to their busy lives.

Grab your shovel and dig in.

Game On! (Soon)

without comments

Just in time for the Stanley Cup playoffs, here are two or three "official blogs" to peruse while waiting for the puck to drop. Check out NHL.com for more.

My two favorite teams are the Sabres and the Stars.
Check out Razor with an Edge.
The Sabres blog featuring JP Dumont is also fun to read.

And for my wife and stepdaughter, the Tampa Bay Blog

Drop the blog, err puck already!

Lori Amor is Out There!

without comments

An old friend from back in the Denton days finally contacted me after years once I posted an appeal to hear from her on the blog. Lori Amor as she has been known for some time now, can be found on the Net here on her personal site from way back and also can been found at her more recently updated artist blog.

Lori is an American artist who has been living in the UK for several years since university. Some of her work can be be found online here and here as well. Primarily into conceptual art, Lori has some interesting projects in the bag and in the works.

From a personal perspective I would add that it appear that unlike many of us, Lori, years after rearrange her life in order to pursue a dream, she has definately done something unique with hers. Congratulations on that Lori. I wish you all the success in the world. I hope to be in touch soon to tell you more directly how nice it is to see you “out there.”

“Girl Blog from Iraq”

with one comment

In another random fit of blog searching I came across this blog by a young woman living through the war in Iraq. "Baghdad Burning" is personal account of daily life self-described as a…

"Girl Blog from Iraq… let's talk war, politics and occupation."

This is not the usual story we see or hear about in the American media.
